Our Policies

How we work — deposits, shipping and insurance, and what to expect at every stage of your build.

New Clients

Welcome to LongRifles

If you’re new to LongRifles, Inc. — welcome, and thank you for choosing us. We strive to make your experience positive enough that you’ll want to come back.

LRI is a marquee facility with an operational tempo that exceeds what most custom gun shops are capable of, and we run things differently. We want to get to know you so we deliver to your expectations.

Our business model is founded on transparency and communication. Your first moments with us are devoted to making sure we know how to reach you; next we navigate the particulars of your build and document your needs as we go. A copy of your estimate is then emailed for review to ensure we got it right — it’s really that simple. Once finalized, we move on to invoicing and deposits.

AR-15, M-4 & M-16-Type Rifles

The almost infinite variations of “black guns” are daunting. The basic platform is straightforward, but proprietary components are more complicated — one slip with a tool can cosmetically ruin an expensive piece of gear, so extreme care and caution are observed at all times.

For these reasons, LRI has a $100 minimum tear-down fee for rifles that do not use the conventional M-16-type spanner-style barrel nut and QD slip-ring handguard attachment. Rifles with proprietary or aftermarket non-standard handguards are assessed an additional disassembly fee. If you are unsure about your AR’s design, contact us and we’ll sort it out ahead of time.

Shipping & Insurance

LongRifles, Inc. ships ALL rifles and barreled actions in a gun case — no exceptions. Clients may provide their own case; otherwise we supply one (billed to the invoice) so your property arrives in pristine condition.

Insurance is billed once your property is ready to ship; the rate is based on the total replacement cost after all work is completed. Our courier of choice is USPS Priority Mail.

LRI holds a valid Federal Firearms License (FFL) issued by the BATFE and is authorized to ship, receive, and possess firearms across state lines. We can legally ship a firearm you already own directly back to you; new receivers and actions must first go to an FFL holder in your area, where you’ll complete a Form 4473. Certain states have additional requirements. We are not attorneys — ultimately, compliance with local, state, and federal law is your responsibility.

Change Orders

A change order is a modification to a build after work has begun. If we catch it in time, there’s no problem — we update the paperwork and move forward. If we’ve already passed the item, we’re happy to revise it, but completed work is billed along with any additional fees, and the completion date may change.

Cancellations

Changing your mind is your right — though we don’t work for free. If you take your project elsewhere, you and your property are treated with the respect you deserve; no hard feelings. If we’ve started, you’ll be billed for completed work, with payment due before your parts ship.

Refusals

Rarely, we may decide it’s not in our best interest to do work for someone. LongRifles, Inc. reserves the right to refuse service at any time for any reason. Your property will be treated with respect; you’ll be billed for any completed work, with payment due before shipping.

Unforeseen Events

Life happens. Unforeseen events can affect a project’s priority, and we’d still like to keep our relationship with you. If something comes up, just call — we won’t dig into your life for an explanation. If there’s a chance you can continue later, we can almost always shelve your project and pick it back up when your situation improves.
