Description
This service is for restoring or converting an action’s guard screws to the 1/4-28 size thread pitch most commonly used by domestic bolt-action receiver manufacturers.
Shown is a Mauser action being converted from the original 1/4-22, 55 degree Whitworth thread to 1/4-28 threads. This was for convenience because a 1/4-28 screw is offered with a broad variety of drive styles. (Allen, Torx, Ribe, etc. . .)
This service ranges in complexity since parts come to us in a variety of ways. Some of our repair methods include:
- Drill and tap to the larger size
- Weld/braze the hole closed and start over
- Bore, tap, and install a thread repair coil

NOTES:
- This is a service that relies on welding, brazing, and machine work. It is a certainty that we will alter the appearance of your action. LRI will not accept any liability for damage for any reason.
- Titanium receivers are repairable here. This includes almost any required welding. LRI has the skill sets and equipment to weld Titanium. (additional costs may be incurred)
- Also, please note that return shipping charges are determined and billed once a job is boxed and ready for departure. Work is often sent to us in a gun case. It’s impossible to know what return shipping costs will be.
